Thank you to all who have contacted the West of Scotland Kyudo Society with an interest in learning Kyudo. We have started our new beginners on Sunday 10th September 2017 and unfortunately are not accepting new beginners at this time.
We will start accepting new beginners interested in learning Kyudo from January 2018. To be notified of when we will start beginners intake, please request to be put on our mailing list by emailing westofscotlandkyudo@gmail.com
Before commiting to learning Kyudo, we strongly advise first observing a Kyudo practice in Prestwick. We welcome observers at Prestwick practices all year round through prior arrangement by email. Please be advised that our practices in Edinburgh are not standalone practices and are meant to complement our full distance dojo practice in Prestwick.
The practices in Edinburgh are currently for makiwara (straw target, close shooting range) training only. It is expected that regular members make a commitment to attend and practise in Prestwick with matomae (Kyudo training with targets at full distance of 28 metres) at least once per month.
For further instruction and grading opportunities, travel outside of Scotland will be required. For more information or further enquiries, please contact the Secretary by email.
