Based on Scottish government guidance, as of 16 December 2021 we have suspended Kyudo practices at Prestwick Academy until further notice. Our calendar and webpage will be updated when we have further information. You can also contact us at email@example.com
Five members from the West of Scotland Kyudo Society presented for a special International Kyudo Federation video shinsa (grading examination) for 1 dan at our dojo in Prestwick on 19th September 2021.
We are happy to announce that all five members who presented for 1 dan passed their shinsa grading exam! Congratulations to all five of our new 1 dan WSKS members. While the shinsa situation was very different this year compared to previous years, the Society is thankful to all involved in the organisation and administration of this year’s shinsa.
We are happy to have resumed practices at Prestwick Academy on 25 July 2021.
Beginners are welcome to observe through prior arrangement and contact us for information on the next beginners intake where places are limited. We hope to run a beginners course starting on 10 October 2021.
We look forward to having people back in the dojo! Email us your questions at firstname.lastname@example.org

Beginners intake for beginners wishing to learn Kyudo with the West of Scotland Kyudo Society starting September 2018 is now closed. The next beginners intake will be announced sometime in January 2019.
Observers are welcome all year round at either our main dojo in Prestwick or at St Kentigern’s Academy in Blackburn through prior arrangement. Beginners wishing to learn Kyudo with the Society are first required to observe a practice before joining the next beginners intake.
Our next beginners intake has been decided for both practices:
- Prestwick Academy: Sunday 23rd September 2018
- St Kentigern’s Academy: Wednesday 19th September 2018
All enquiring beginners are required to observe a Kyudo practice in Prestwick or our upcoming Kyudo demonstration at Cowden Japanese Summer Festival on Saturday 1st September or Sunday 2nd September before joining our beginners Kyudo sessions. Please email the Secretary to arrange a time to visit one of the practices on our practice calendar.
As a reminder, while we do offer Kyudo practice sessions at Blackburn, these are for makiwara-training only and are not a substitute for regular practice at Prestwick Academy.
It is expected that all members of the West of Scotland Kyudo Society attend practices at Prestwick at least once per month as these practices are meant to complement each other.
